Overview and Features of the School Improvement Management System

The Office of Education Improvement & Innovation (OEII) and the Office of Education Assessment and Accountability (OEAA) of the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), in collaboration with AdvancED, provide unified online resources designed to:

 

The Model of Process Cycle for School Improvement provides the foundation to address school improvement and promote student achievement through a comprehensive and systemic approach consisting of the following main tasks:

  1. gathering data

  2. analyzing/studying the data within the context of the School Improvement Framework

  3. developing a School Improvement Plan

  4. implementing, monitoring, and evaluating this plan

 

Online Resources and Tools

Online School Process Rubrics (90) and Online District Process Rubrics

This tool facilitates the submission of the SPR (90)/DPR and is designed to assist schools/districts to determine their strengths and challenges through the assessment of system processes and protocols of practice that are in place to support student academic achievement. You need an access code to manage your SPR (90)/DPR information.

 

Online EdYES! (40) Report

This tool facilitates the submission of the EdYES! (40) Report, which contains 40 key characteristics that are common with the SPR (90) and is designed to address student achievement and school performance. You need an access code to manage your EdYES! (40)  Report information.

 

Online Standards Assessment Report

This tool facilitates the submission of the SAR and is designed to assist schools to determine their strengths and challenges through the assessment of system processes and protocols of practice that are in place to support student academic achievement. You need an access code to manage your SAR information.

 

Online Self Assessment

This tool facilitates the submission of the Self Assessment, which an abbreviated version of the SAR. It contains only responses to the AdvancED standard indicators and is designed to address student achievement and school performance. You need an access code to manage your Self Assessment information.

 

Student Data Analysis

This document is a tool designed to gather and analyze student achievement data in order to effectively address the key characteristics presented in the SPR (90)/DPR. This document should be reviewed in detail prior to entering and submitting the SPR (90)/DPR.

 

Michigan Education Performance Report

The Michigan Department of Education has developed the Michigan Education Performance Report to provide accurate, up-to-date information on Michigan's public educational entities (i.e., ISD/RESA, District and School) working with the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) and the University of Arkansas NORMES office. Contained within this site are summary, achievement, and other informational data about the state's public educational entities.

 

Educational Entity Master

The Educational Entity Master is a repository that contains the official identification numbers and basic contact information regarding educational systems in Michigan. Information exists for public schools, nonpublic schools, intermediate school districts, and institutions of higher education. Commonly used information includes school/facility name, grade levels, address, and contact information. The Educational Entity Master is managed by the Center for Educational Performance and Information. School demographics residing in the Educational Entity Master feed automatically into the CNA/EdYES! Report and can only be updated in the Educational Entity Master. Therefore, schools should keep their Educational Entity Master information up to date at all times.
